Indira Gandhi, the third Prime Minister of India and the first woman Prime Minister, was born on 19 November 1917 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. She received his childhood service from his father Jawaharlal and mother Kamla Nehru.
Indira received her primary education in Allahabad and later in Pune, Mumbai and Santiniketan under Guru Rabindranath Tagore. Her family was surrounded by political events, so her personality was strongly influenced by politics.
Indira Gandhi became the President of the Congress at a young age. She had a close look at poverty, misery and illiteracy in India. Therefore, her latent desire was to make India a prosperous and powerful nation in the world in the future.
Indira Gandhi’s husband’s name was Firoz Shah Gandhi and they had two children Rajiv and Sanjay. When Lal Bahadur Shastri was the Prime Minister, she held the post of Information and Space Minister. After the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri, she became the third Prime Minister of India.
She implemented many welfare schemes to eradicate poverty and ignorance. She had to take many tough decisions to take India forward in the fields of agro-industry, space research, nuclear power. She also implemented those decisions.

Operation Blue Star was decided to curb the Khalistan movement. But as a result, Indira Gandhi was assassinated on October 31, 1984. The Indian people will always be indebted to such great woman leader.
