The Himalayas are known as the highest mountain range in the world. The Himalayan range is about 2400 km. It is too long and passes through India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Myanmar and Bhutan. The Indian subcontinent is considered to be extremely safe due to the Himalayan mountains.

The word Himalayas means a place where snow resides. The Himalayas control the climate of the Indian subcontinent. Therefore, the climate in India has a fixed speed and time. The Himalayan mountains block the cold winds from the north. This helps to keep the Indian subcontinent warm all the time.

The diverse cultures and mankind around the world are created and destroyed by geographical change, but the Indian subcontinent is the land with the oldest civilizations due to the Himalayas. The natural climate is so nutritious that it does not take much effort to cultivate the resources here.

Most of the important rivers of all the countries in the Indian subcontinent originate from the Himalayas. The same rivers further nourish the entire human and other living life. The rivers Ganga, Brahmaputra, Yangtze and Indus originate in the Himalayas. Like these rivers, glaciers originate in the Himalayas.

The Himalayas are mentioned in very ancient texts. The Himalayas are described in Vedas, Puranas and religious texts. Mount Kailash in the Himalayas is believed to be the abode of Lord Shankar and Goddess Parvati. Therefore, the Himalayas have been given a very important place in the spiritual upliftment.

The Himalayas are considered to be the best place for penance and practice in the spiritual realm. Manas Sarovar and Om Parvat are considered very sacred places in Hinduism. The Himalayas also have important religious sites like Amarnath, Rishikesh, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

The Himalayas are mainly divided into four major mountain ranges namely Bruhad Himalayas, Central Himalayas, Para (Trans) Himalayas and Shivalik. The Himalayas are considered to be the best for mountaineering. Mount Everest is also the highest peak in the world in the Himalayas.

When the sun shines in the morning, the beauty of the Himalayas is worth seeing. The entire Himalayas are covered with cedar trees. Animals like elephants, bears, leopards and reindeer live in the Himalayas. The Himalayas have been beautifully described by many poets, storytellers, painters and musicians.
